The Department of Tourism (DOT) is promoting the diverse tourism destinations and potentials of Northern Mindanao as it hosts a familiarization tour for South Korean media personalities.

In an interview on Thursday, DOT-Northern Mindanao Director Marie Elaine Unchuan said 10 Korean journalists and content creators are participating in a five-day tour of select tourist destinations across the region. “We also have visitors from last year coming from South Korea to explore the region’s tourism potential,” she added.

The delegation paid a courtesy visit and received a briefing at the DOT regional office here on Thursday. Their tour itinerary includes visits to historical landmarks and waterfalls in Iligan City, a mangrove tour in Tubajon, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, and various water activities such as helmet diving, sea walking, snorkeling, and jet skiing.

Unchua said the group will also visit the Divine Mercy Shrine, experience white-water rafting in Cagayan de Oro, tour the Del Monte plantation in Bukidnon, and enjoy Dahilayan Adventure Park, Pueblo de Oro Golf Course, and Route 955 in Claveria.

Park Byung Chang, a reporter from South Korea’s New Media Division, noted that this visit is not just a familiarization tour but also an opportunity to document and highlight the tourism potential of Northern Mindanao.

Additionally, Lee Min Hye, an influencer from the Korean lifestyle brand Pink Cat, said that she researched some destinations in Bukidnon.

“I am excited to see them during our five-day tour,” Lee said. (PNA)
