Start the engine.

After a series of releases that turned poses, streets and everyday moments into something larger than themselves, ONE OR EIGHT finally reveals the full system behind it all with their first EP “EN-GÏNE”.

This isn’t a collection of tracks. It’s the moment everything locks into place – the fuel, the impulse, and the identity that has been moving beneath every release so far.

Across six tracks, including lead track “TRANSLATE” and previously released songs such as “MONSTER”, which has been featured as the “International Professional University of Technology in Tokyo 2026 New TV Commercial Song” since March, and “INVINCIBLE”, the ending theme for Nippon TV’s “ICHIBACHI! – BET from Tokyo to the World -“, “EN-GÏNE” expands the world ONE OR EIGHT has been building: one rooted in motion without borders, and expression without translation. Two ideas running in parallel, both pointing to the same truth: who you are doesn’t change depending on where you are, or what language surrounds you.

“TRANSLATE” itself is built entirely around that idea, lyrics moving freely between English and Japanese, anchored by the phrase “No need to translate”. Rather than explaining themselves, the track leans on presence over language, communicating through vibes and performance instead of words. The sound backs that up: rage-inspired production, bouncy, game-like electronic textures, distorted 808s, expansive synths, and a sense of constant acceleration, fusing global youth culture with Tokyo’s own playful, ambitious edge into something genuinely borderless.

The music video takes that idea somewhere unexpected: Vietnam. Directed by Phuong Vu and produced by ANTIANTIART, a rising name in Vietnam’s creative scene, the video is built on a single, playful premise: What if a Japanese yōkai (supernatural spirits, demons, and monsters in Japanese folklore) fled to Vietnam?

ONE OR EIGHT play the agents sent to track it down through the city’s streets, all set inside a retro-futuristic world that channels 90s spy films, threading Japanese folklore through the heat and chaos of Vietnamese streets. Dark, a little humourous, and visually distinct, the video turns “TRANSLATE”‘s message of crossing cultures into an actual cross-cultural collaboration between Japan and Vietnam. Choreography comes from prominent choreographer Akanen.

At its core, “EN-GÏNE” is built around a simple but unshakable message:

What moves us is impulse.

What keeps us running is you.

Rather than belonging to one genre or one place, the EP moves freely between Latin heat, hip-hop energy and Tokyo street attitude, carrying the same identity from local corners to global stages without compromise. It doesn’t adapt to environments. It defines its own.

This is where the ideas behind “YANKEE SQUAT” and “TRANSLATE” finally connect – not as separate concepts, but as parts of the same engine: one about stance, one about voice, both driven by the same internal force.

That engine is already headed overseas. ONE OR EIGHT brings “EN-GÏNE” straight to the stage with ONE OR EIGHT Special SHOWCASE 2026 in ASIA -V8-, a run of Asia shows landing in Singapore on 21 October, Manila on 23 October, and Bangkok on 25 October.

Back home, the engine keeps running too. ONE OR EIGHT SHŪKAI 2026-2027 in JAPAN -2GATHER- sets out this autumn to visit all 47 prefectures of Japan, a fan meeting tour built on the same spirit driving everything else right now.

Member SOUMA sums up what the EP represents:

“This EP is a project that fully captures what makes ONE OR EIGHT unique, while reimagining the appeal and culture of Japan in our own way.

The lead track, “TRANSLATE”, is also filled with our desire to connect with people around the world through our music and performances, breaking through the barriers of language and culture.

It’s an incredible project that captures who we are right now, shaped by all the challenges we’ve taken on and the people we’ve met along the way. We’d be so happy if our music could reach people everywhere, beyond borders and languages!

Listen to “EN-GÏNE”, turn up the engine with us, and let’s keep moving forward together!!!”

“EN-GÏNE” is not about becoming something new. It’s about recognising what was already there.

And once it starts running, there’s no switching it off.
